Going through my portfolio you will see that I capture both posed and candid portraits of your family. I believe sometimes it is great to capture a happy and posed memory but sometimes it is even better to show the more fun side and capture your family dynamics.
In the beginning of a session, I will shoot with a rather long lens and be rather quiet. I will let your kids get used to me from a distance. I will sit back and observe what you do, how your family interacts, and how your kids unfold their own little personalities. I’ve learned to be patient, especially with little kids… I may ask you to get the sillies out by tickling each other or whispering a joke or secret in each others ear. I may let your kids pose themselves, play peek-a-boo, or have them throw a silly face my way. I may tell your family to hug and kiss each other or just relax and sit back… It is my job to get a feeling of who you are as a family and then try to capture that very essence.
After we get to know each other a little better, I usually bring out my shorter lens and shoot close-ups of your family. I love to ask the kids questions, learn about their most favorite memories or activities with their family. I am always amazed by the answers and I think the final result shows when the kids are more relaxed and letting their little personality shine through.
What it comes down to is that I want everyone to enjoy this time together and create memories that will be cherished for many years to come…
